#DTRoadTrip: There’s No Place Like Home

We’ve fallen in love with every city we’ve visited on our #DTRoadTrip, but after 11 weeks on the road it was great to see some familiar sites again. Driving into the Phoenix valley again gave us a sense of relief. It reminded us that no matter how far we wander, there truly is no place like home.

Before we hit up our favorite attractions and restaurants in our home city, we had to pay a visit to DriveTime’s Home Office.

DriveTime is like a mosaic. It’s made up of thousands of individual contributions from our employees all over the country, and the big picture comes together at DriveTime’s corporate headquarters in Tempe.

One of the many challenges of being a national corporation is finding a space to store all of the data that comes pouring in from our dealerships and inspection centers. We process a lot of data which requires a lot of computing power, which requires brilliant minds to make sure it all runs smoothly.

This is where we work hard…

And play hard!

Our Home Office employees are part of the big picture that makes DriveTime what it is: the best choice for buying a used car.

Now for Some Fun!

There are so many reasons to love Phoenix. Easy access to outdoor activities like hiking, hunting, mountain biking and water sports. Professional sports teams and the location of MLB spring training. World-class food and drinks, and the best Mexican food north of the border.

If you can stand the heat, AZ is a practical paradise.

Coming back to the AZ heat set the theme for our visit. We decided to do all things hot. This is the Valley of the Sun after all.

We started with a lunch at Los Dos Molinos. Los Dos is as local as it comes; the staff are all family and they treat their guests like family. Their motto is “some like it hot” and they mean it. Everything you eat here bites back, so be prepared with an ice cold margarita as you chow down on their specialty ribs, enchiladas and Machaca pizza.

The Phoenix summer heat is intense, even dangerous, so we stayed inside for the rest of the afternoon and rested up for our dusk ascent of Camelback Mountain.

Phoenix comes to life after dark, and there’s no better place to take it all in than on top of Camelback. Getting to the top is not easy, and night hiking should only be attempted by those who are experienced with the trail, but if you can do it you will be rewarded with a dreamy perspective of the Phoenix valley.

We’ve got to be back on the road soon to journey to our last stop on #DTRoadTrip, but we’ve got time for one more Phoenix adventure. What should we do? Tell us in the comments!
